The South Pacific Laser Masters is about to get underway at RQYS with an impressive fleet of 58 eager masters sailors including multiple world champions from across Australia and New Zealand. Looks like some good breezes predicted. Who wouldn’t want to be getting the fitness bonus of racing an ILCA! It will be very interesting to see how the SPLM unfolds.

The first Grand Slam World Cup regatta has just concluded off the iconic shores of Long Beach LA, the Olympic venue for the 2028 games.  Competitors reported that the locals were very friendly and the organisation first class. In the ILCA 7’s Eddie Reid placed 21st in the 52-boat fleet with RQYS’ Issac Schotte 23rd. Very strong performances from these ‘up and coming’ racers. In the ILCA 6’s RQYS’ Mara Stransky continued her strong form, tied with 10th place Charlotte Rose of the US but relegated to 11th on count-back.

The ILCA 4 Worlds start in LA in the next few days with RQYS represented by Wilbur Bright, Ruby Carter and James Dale. We’re looking forward to cheering our youngsters on!

So, anyone who is dreaming of treating themselves to a new ILCA dinghy, and go on, you ‘know you want to’ Well, after the upcoming South Pacific Laser Masters NB Sailsports will be selling 6 brand new Element 6 ILCAS, used for only 4 days at considerable discounts. Check out their website here for details.
