Whether they’re brand new to sailing or returning to build on past experience\, this program combines fun and learning\, providing a solid foundation in sailing while encouraging an active\, social lifestyle. \nYouth sailors will learn essential skills in our RS Quest dinghies\, while enjoying time on the water with friends. \nThis program is the perfect way to stay active\, make new friends\, and develop a lifelong love of the water. With 8 sessions per term\, sailors can progress at their own pace\, with their mates alongside them. Whether you’ve sailed before or it’s your very first time\, this program is designed to bring together a range of skill levels\, so everyone gets something out of it. \nProgram Details:\n\nAges: 12-17 years old\nInstructors: Friendly and qualified instructors accredited by Australian Sailing\nSession Days: Saturday Afternoons from 2nd May to 27th June (excl. 6 June)\, 2026\nInstructor Guidance: Our instructors will provide personalised feedback and can advise when your child is ready for the next level.\nCost: $295\n\nPre-Requisites:\n\nChildren should ideally be water confident\, but they will always wear life jackets during sessions.\nNo prior sailing knowledge required\nBe ages 12-17\n\nDrop-off/Pick-up Location:\n\nRQYS Sailing Academy Office\n\nWhat to bring with you:\nTOP – You will want a long-sleeve shirt or rashie that will protect you from the sun and keep you warm on those cooler days! \nBOTTOMS – Shorts\, Boardies\, or leggings that you don’t mind getting wet! \nCLOSED-TOE SHOES – This can be a pair of runners you don’t mind getting wet\, or Aqua shoes from your last snorkelling adventure! \n\nAqua Shoes\n\nSUN PROTECTION – We recommend bringing a Hat\, Sunscreen\, Water Bottle\, and Sunnies! \n  \nIMPORTANT NOTICE: \nBy registering for this program\, you acknowledge and accept that sailing is a dangerous sport that carries inherent risks\, including the potential for serious injury. One specific risk during this course is head injuries caused by contact with the boom or other equipment\, which can occur regardless of a sailor’s level of experience or skill. \nThe safety of each sailor is ultimately their own and their parents’ responsibility. This includes taking appropriate precautions to minimize risks\, such as wearing a helmet to reduce the likelihood of serious injury. \n\n \nOverview \nThis is an OutThere Sailing combined course (a combination of OutThere Sailing 1\, 2\, 3). Whether they’re brand new to sailing or returning to build on past experience\, this program combines fun and learning\, providing a solid foundation in sailing while encouraging an active\, social lifestyle. \nYouth sailors will learn essential skills in our RS Quest dinghies\, while enjoying time on the water with friends. \nThis program is the perfect way to stay active\, make new friends\, and develop a lifelong love of the water. With 8 sessions per term\, sailors can progress at their own pace\, with their mates alongside them. One specific risk during this course is head injuries caused by contact with the boom or other equipment\, which can occur regardless of a sailor’s level of experience or skill. \nThe safety of each sailor is ultimately their own and their parents’ responsibility. Whether they’re brand new to sailing or returning to build on past experience\, this program combines fun and learning\, providing a solid foundation in sailing while encouraging an active\, social lifestyle. \nYouth sailors will learn essential skills in our RS Quest dinghies\, while enjoying time on the water with friends. \nThis program is the perfect way to stay active\, make new friends\, and develop a lifelong love of the water. With 8 sessions per term\, sailors can progress at their own pace\, with their mates alongside them. We’re excited to kick off another Term of sailing and windsurfing with you all. \nTraining will resume on Sunday 1st February 2026\, with specific start dates outlined in the fleet training schedule. Please note that not all fleets start or finish on the same day! \nREGISTER HERE \nSATURDAYS – 07 February to 28 March from 1300 – 1600hrs \n\nWindsurfing\n\nYOUTH SQUAD PRICING:\nSingle Handed Fleets: \n1 Session a week – Weekday or Weekend session option: $235.00\n2 Sessions a week – Weekday and Weekend session option: $335.00 \n\nIntermediate Opti\nOpen Opti\nILCA 4\nILCA 6\nWindsurfing\nWind Foiling\n\nPlease Note: \n\nPlease ensure that BOTH the skipper and crew register for 2-handed boats.\nIf you need to hire equipment\, please confirm availability with the Sailing Academy first\, then complete our Equipment Hire Registration HERE.\nIt’s important to note that each class has a minimum attendance requirement. If this requirement isn’t met\, we may be unable to assign a class-specific coach for the term.\nIn the case that weather conditions aren’t suitable for on-water activities\, we’ll conduct theory sessions.\nTo participate in this training\, you need to be a Junior Member of RQYS.\n\nWe’d love to see you participating in RQYS Club Racing\, as this is the progression for Youth Squad training. \nYou can find out all the details here: Club Racing – RQYS \nStay Connected:\n–    Stack Team App: RQ Youth Squad\n–    Facebook Page: RQYS YouthSquad \nOur team will use these platforms to keep you informed throughout the term. \n  \nIMPORTANT NOTICE: \nBy registering for this program\, you acknowledge and accept that sailing is a dangerous sport that carries inherent risks\, including the potential for serious injury.
