“Most noticeably for our Members has been the first-time ever geo-plotting of our Squadron’s priceless 10 moorings in the Deanbilla Bay anchorage area, south of Dunwich on the sheltered western side of Minjerribah / North Stradbroke Island,” says Glen. “We have rapidly evolved from the past chart-plotter screenshot of our incredible assets to a proper, more formal and useful, accurate depiction of our moorings. “This has proven to be a valuable and practical enhancement of our Squadron’s boating membership options in the past 12 months,” Glen said, “ with not only the clear colour-coding of the RQYS mooring buoys but also their exact co-ordinates being plotted in detail.” These Deanbilla Bay mooring maps have been precisely co-ordinated by reference to the MSQ Licence authorisations as well as Google Earth orientations. “This represents a major step forward in RQYS boating Members’ access to one of our Squadron’s lesser-known assets around Moreton Bay,” said Glen. “Matt has also redrawn our Bill Kirby VIP Jetty map with greater clarity on berth types and vessel dimensions,” he said. Members will also undoubtedly have seen the prominent, red-framed stickers which are affixed to the electrical boxes at the head of each Row in Marinas 1 and 2. “Each location-specific sticker vividly shows the black-bordered yellow circle with the red ‘YOU’ at the centre,” notes Glen, each customised to the orientation of the viewer, “for immediate recognition of the directions and distances to the nearest emergency item.” “Thanks to the passionate design skills — and additional voluntary efforts — of Member Matt Tesch, our Club now has in place an improved, and emergency services-approved, suite of signage and maps created to enhance Members’ experience, safety and security,” writes Marina Manager Glen Scott.
