Even better yet, and aiming for ‘best’ Continued improvements, strong occupancy, improved Member satisfaction: positive factors which augur well! The marina continues to be a critically important part of the Squadron, providing a safe, well-maintained and enjoyable environment for our Members while supporting the broader operations and future growth of RQYS in our Bayside community. This year has seen continued improvements across our facilities, strong marina occupancy, improved Member satisfaction and significant progress in planning for the future. Marina highlights Marina occupancy rates — one of several Key Performance Indicators — have remained strong throughout the past year, reflecting the continued demand for berthing at RQYS and the value that Members, visitors and transiting vessel owners place on our marina facilities and services. We have found a further increase in vessel size again this past year, with much larger vessels on P, R and S rows, especially, that now call RQYS home. Equally, berth vacancies have been very low again this year, with many more Members continuing to pay for their berths while they are away cruising (or overseas), in the sure knowledge they can return to their RQYS Manly berth. Member Survey – continued improvement One of the most pleasing outcomes this year has been the Marina Office’s and Boatyard Teams’ improvement in our yearly Member Survey results, the quantitative scoring and qualitative comments clearly showing an increase in satisfaction, indicating that our teams’ work is positively impacting the Member experience. This improvement is a direct result of listening to Member feedback and continuing to focus on the areas that matter most — communication, presentation, maintenance, safety, accessibility and the overall experience of using the marina. While we should be proud of this improvement, there is always work to do. We will continue to use Member feedback to guide our priorities and identify opportunities to further improve. Boatyard operations The RQYS Boatyard experienced another busy, productive 12 months, supporting Members’ and visiting vessels with a wide range of maintenance, refit and hardstand services. Demand for haul-outs and hardstand facilities has remained strong, underscoring the Boatyard’s importance as a key service area. During the year, operation of the Roodberg trailer-lift presented some challenges, mainly due to staff turnover and the need to maintain a suitably trained and experienced operator base. Despite this, the team worked hard to minimise disruption and maintain services for members and customers. I would like to acknowledge Shane Green, who has taken over responsibility for the Roodberg operations. He has stepped into the role with enthusiasm and professionalism, providing stability, leadership and a strong focus on safe and efficient operations. With Shane leading this area, we are confident that the boatyard and Roodberg operations will continue to improve and provide a high level of service for our Members and customers. The Boatyard remains integral to the future growth of RQYS, and opportunities to enhance facilities, services and operational efficiency will continue to be explored as part of the broader Master Plan and future capital projects. Dredging campaign Planning is progressing for the next major dredging campaign. This is critical to maintaining safe navigation and access around the marina and ensuring our facilities remain suitable for the increasing size and draft of vessels using RQYS. “It is my pleasure to present the Marina & Facilities Report for 2025–26 and reflect on what has been another productive year for the RQYS Marina,” writes Glen Scott, who notes that “we have also seen a year-on-year increase in the size of some of the vessels in the RQYS Marina.” RQYS Marina occupancy rate 2025–26 Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Yearbook Mainsheet 2026 25 Marina & Facilities Manager’s Report
