We were pleased to welcome Gary as our new Maintenance Team member this year, who is making a great contribution to the ongoing maintenance, presentation and operation of the marinas. Tracie Porter also joined us during 2026 and has quickly become a valued member of our marina operation, and I look forward to seeing her further continue to contribute to our work. On Russell Island, Pete and Erica Sorensen have settled in as Caretakers, their presence and work extremely important to the ongoing operation and presentation of RQYS Canaipa and to the experience our Members enjoy when visiting the island. A huge thank-you to every member of my team. The work you do is appreciated, and the results are reflected in the improvements we continue to see across the Squadron. I am extremely proud of the team and what we have achieved together. Looking ahead The coming year promises to be an exciting one for the RQYS Marina. With strong occupancy, improving Member satisfaction, the 2027 dredging campaign approaching and the Master Plan moving towards the commencement of capital projects, we are entering an important period of growth and investment. Our focus will remain on delivering a safe, well-presented and professionally managed marina while continuing to improve the experience for every RQYS member. I would like to thank the RQYS Board, Flag Officers, Leadership Team and, most importantly, our Members for their continued support and feedback. I look forward to another successful year and to continuing the journey of making the RQYS Marina one of the best marina facilities in Australia. n BACKGROUND PIC: Matthew Tesch Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Yearbook Mainsheet 2026 27 Marina & Facilities Manager’s Report
