OUR CREW HAS YOU COVERED  Crews enjoyed spectacular sunsets, spotted whales and dolphins along the Queensland coastline, carefully navigated around K’gari and kept spirits high with plenty of laughs over WhatsApp. The crew aboard Noire even became famous for its gourmet meals at sea, proving offshore racing doesn’t always mean surviving on freeze-dried, microwaved food! Back on land, the Bundaberg community was ready to welcome the fleet with open arms. Sponsors followed their allocated boats on the online tracker, cheering them on from afar, while Bundaberg Port Marina came alive with live music, Bundaberg Rum, great food and a fantastic race village atmosphere. One of the favourite moments came during the Squadron’s recent AGM when RQYS Commodore Curtis Skinner shared that this race had, in many ways, ‘given him back his love of sailing’. Comments like that remind us why events like these are so important: they’re about much more than results on a scoreboard. After several days at sea, Wedgetail, skippered by David “Rosey” Rose, became the first yacht to arrive in Bundaberg before also being confirmed as the Overall IRC winner on corrected time.   Wedgetail’s winning team celebrates their arrival in Bundaberg.  Balancing Act’s crew living up to their name, bending on the Squadron burgee ahead of (the painfully slow!) departure from Manly.  Welcoming smiles from RQYS Patron Professor Graeme Nimmo rfd, Her Excellency Dr Jeannette Young ac psm, P/Cdre & Board Chair David Redfern ( Not a Diamond) and Linda Gorry. 42 Mainsheet 2026 Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Yearbook Brisbane to Bundaberg Offshore Race Report
