RQYS MAINSHEET 2026

Mainsheet 2026 Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron Yearbook 40 Advertorial More than boat ownership There has never been a better time to be on the water around South East Queensland. From relaxed afternoons exploring Moreton Bay to spirited sailing across Waterloo Bay, boating has always been about more than the destination. It’s about freedom, adventure, connection and creating memories with family and friends. Yet, for many people, the dream of boat ownership has often been overshadowed by the realities of maintenance, berthing, servicing and the countless responsibilities that come with owning a vessel. Over the past nine years, Yachtshare has quietly challenged that thinking. Operating from the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, Yachtshare has built a community of boating enthusiasts who have discovered that ownership doesn’t have to mean doing everything yourself. Instead, owners enjoy all the rewards of having their own meticulously maintained yacht while leaving the ongoing management to a professional team. The result is remarkably simple. Step on board. Cast off. The rest has already been taken care of. Today, more than 150 owners enjoy access to a fleet of premium sailing and motor yachts, each maintained to an exceptional standard and ready whenever adventure calls. Whether it’s an afternoon sail, a weekend escape, entertaining friends, or a longer coastal voyage, owners can simply enjoy the experience that inspired them to own a boat in the first place. One of the great privileges of Yachtshare ownership is the annual migration north to the Whitsundays. Each Winter, owners cast off for weeks of island cruising aboard their own meticulously maintained yacht, exploring iconic anchorages, crystal-clear bays and secluded beaches at their own pace. It’s all the pride, freedom and spontaneity of private ownership, combined with the confidence that every vessel has been professionally prepared, serviced and maintained before departure. For many owners, it has become the highlight of the boating calendar—a chance to experience one of the world’s great cruising destinations in complete comfort aboard a yacht they proudly call their own. Equally important is the sense of community that has developed around the fleet. Every Yachtshare owner is a Full Member of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, making them an integral part of one of Australia’s premier boating clubs. They don’t simply own a share in a yacht—they become part of a vibrant boating community, enjoying the camaraderie, friendships, cruising, racing and social activities that make RQYS such a special place. Over the past nine years, Yachtshare has welcomed hundreds of people into the boating lifestyle while strengthening its close relationship with the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. Together, Yachtshare owners have become valued Members of the Club, contributing to its vibrant community both on and off the water. In an age where experiences are increasingly valued over possessions, Yachtshare offers a refreshing perspective on boat ownership. It allows people to enjoy all the pride, freedom and adventure of owning a premium yacht, while removing the complexities that have traditionally come with it. For Yachtshare owners, every journey begins the same way—simply STEP ON BOARD, cast off, and enjoy the freedom of boating exactly as it should be.
